Thailand’s lower house passed a bill to establish an integrated resort.
According to a report by Gambling Insider last week, there have been proposals to open several casino branches across the country, including Bangkok and the Eastern Economic Corridor, including the Pattaya and Rayong regions.
The proposal called for a cap on gambling spaces to be set at 5%, along with resorts that offer five-star hotels, amusement parks, sports stadiums, and even zoos as part of the customer experience.
The 310-9 vote by the House of Representatives has yet to legalize gambling in Thailand, as the legislation must first be delivered to a government whose mission is to conduct detailed research on the economic suitability of regulated athletics games.
Pakornwut Udompipatsakul, a member of the Move Forward Party, said, “The decision on the casino-entertainment complex project is likely to be made by the next government.
“It can’t happen in two or three years and most importantly, public hearings and even a referendum among locals should be organised.”
Under the current plan, only foreign players will be allowed into Thai casinos, and only locals aged 21 or older who can prove they have at least 500,000 TBH ($15,000) in their bank accounts for six months.

AGM is a non-profit international trading organization representing makers of electronic table games, lottery, systems, and iGaming content.
Along with Parente, six more executives were appointed to the new role. These include the new Vice President, Elaine Hodgson, President and CEO of Incredible Technologies, former President David Lucchese, and Luke Orchard, Chief Compliance and Risk Management Officer of ITG, SVP.
Meanwhile, Thomas Jingoli, EVP and COO of Konami, was appointed AGM secretary, while Ryan Comstock, COO of Ainsworth Game Technology, was appointed as the new finance officer.
NSW Labor Announces Proposed Gambling Reform
New South Wales (NSW) Labour has released a list of major gambling reforms to be implemented if it wins the state election in March.
Reforms will include a year-long trial of cash-free game cards, a ban on political donations from clubs, a ban on signage advertising poker machines off-site, and an extension of the self-exclusion register to use face recognition technology.
The Labour government will also aim to reduce the total number of Forky machines in NSW by increasing the confiscation rate imposed when purchasing Forky machines from bars and clubs with different locations to one of the two.
Opposition leader Chris Minns announced potential reforms after a long run with the government on how to properly deal with problem gambling and money laundering through poker.
If Labour wins the election, a 12-month trial of cashless game cards will begin in July 2023 and be carried out in a limited number of locations involving at least 500 machines. Both the metropolitan area and the region will be involved.
Mandatory trials will be overseen by independent panels including industry representatives, law enforcement agencies, gambling and health professionals, and academia.
