The study found that more than 300,000 residents in Canada are at serious or moderate risk of developing gambling-related problems. On Friday, Michelle Rotorman, co-author of the report and senior analyst at Statistics Canada’s health analysis division, noted that changes in the industry since 2018 could lead to a much higher percentage of problem gambling in the country. The study found that gambling is more dominant among middle-aged Canadians aged 45 to 64 compared to other ages. This demographic has been 72.3 percent more popular with gamblers over the past year. Some of the reasons for that may include marketing stigma and lack of social acceptance of gambling by women in the past.
